SPRINGBOT ACADEMY · TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

Build confidence.
Teach possibility.

Practical STEM starts with a teacher who feels ready. Learn to code, measure and experiment with Springbot — then turn what you build into a lesson your learners can use.

For South African teachers. No coding experience needed to begin.

A PATH THAT GROWS WITH YOU

Start with the classroom. Go further from there.

Physical computing brings code into the real world: a button changes a display, a sensor measures light, a motor moves a mechanism. The Academy helps you teach these ideas through practical investigations.

  1. 01

    Build your foundation

Work through F1–F6 in order, from your first MicroBlocks script to a complete CAPS-linked lesson.

  2. 02

    Show it in practice

Collect your projects, learner tasks and reflections in a foundation portfolio. Teach your final lesson and have the portfolio accepted.

    Understand the portfolio
  3. 03

    Choose your direction

Explore robotics, Python, design, apps, radio, rocketry or space missions. Choose what fits your subject and learners.

THE TOOLS BECOME THE LESSON

Code you can see. Data you can teach.

Learners holding Springbot Green and Gold boards

Springbot Green & Gold

Use displays, buttons, sound and onboard sensors to make the connection between a learner’s code and a real response.

Meet the Springbot platform

MicroBlocks

Begin with live block-based coding: change a script and see the board respond. Build confidence before moving to text-based programming.

Attachable xChips modules with sensors, displays and power components

Attachable xChips

Expand investigations with weather, pressure, light, soil moisture and air quality sensors.

BUILT FOR TEACHERS

Leave with more than a demonstration.

BUILD

A working project

Make the circuit or script yourself, test it and understand what to do when it needs troubleshooting.

TEACH

A practical lesson

Adapt the activity to your phase, plan shared-board roles and choose an assessment that shows understanding.

REFLECT

Evidence of practice

Try the activity at school, collect anonymised learner evidence and reflect on what you will change next time.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

A clear approach to CPTD.

The programme is designed for a SACE Type 3 professional development pathway. SACE endorsement and points allocations have not yet been confirmed. Academy certificates are provider certificates; they are separate from SACE awards.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Bring practical STEM into your classroom.

Tell us your teaching phase, subject and the experience you would like to build. We’ll help you choose a starting point and confirm dates, venue, kit arrangements and fees.
