3D enclosure building
Teachers can measure a board, design a simple enclosure, and judge a print for classroom use.
Technology, Engineering Graphics, Coding & Robotics, maker-club leads.
Foundation Certificate (F1–F6).
4 hours, plus a school application task
IN THE WORKSHOP
What you will explore.
- 0:00–0:40
Why an enclosure is a design brief: drop, dust, fingers, cable exit, screen window.
- 0:40–1:30
Measure Green and Gold. Cardboard prototype before any filament.
- 1:30–3:00
Modify a starter file (Tinkercad or the school CAD tool). Export, slice, start a print.
- 3:00–4:00
Fit check, failure gallery (warping, no clearance), classroom print queue.
BUILD IT. USE IT.
Take the learning into class.
You leave with
- A cardboard or printed enclosure that fits their board.
- A learner design brief.
Your school application
Learners design one change (handle, window, lanyard hole). Teacher files photos and the brief.
Allow about two hours outside the facilitated session.
Curriculum connection
Technology structures and mechanical systems; EGD drawing; design process in Coding & Robotics.
YOUR EQUIPMENT
Tools for this module.
Springbot, callipers, cardboard mock-up, school 3D printer or a print bureau. Starter enclosure files.
