F1 · FOUNDATION · 4-HOUR WORKSHOP
Springbot classroom foundations
A teacher can unbox a Springbot, connect it, run a live MicroBlocks script, and explain how the kit will be managed in a real classroom.
All phases. No prior coding required.
None. Entry module.
4 hours, plus a school application task
IN THE WORKSHOP
What you will explore.
- 0:00–0:30
Why physical computing, and where it sits in CAPS and Coding & Robotics.
- 0:30–1:15
Green vs Gold: 5×5 LED matrix, 128×64 OLED, buttons, buzzer, Neopixel, onboard sensors. Connect and identify the board.
- 1:15–2:30
MicroBlocks live coding: buttons, display, sound. Parallel scripts, so animation and sensing can run together.
- 2:30–3:15
Kit care, pairing, charging, lost-script recovery, UF2 bootloader, one-board-per-pair classroom routines.
- 3:15–4:00
First mini-lesson: a 15-minute learner task the teacher will actually run next week.
BUILD IT. USE IT.
Take the learning into class.
You leave with
- A working ‘hello classroom’ project on their own board.
- A one-page kit routine for their school.
- A PDP reflection starter.
Your school application
Teach a 20-minute unplugged-to-plugged introduction to one class. Collect two learner comments and file them with the PDP reflection.
Allow about two hours outside the facilitated session.
Curriculum connection
Coding & Robotics digital concepts and first coding; Technology systems; Foundation Phase sequencing and patterns.
YOUR EQUIPMENT
Tools for this module.
Springbot Green or Gold, USB-C, MicroBlocks in the browser.
Confirm the equipment and software arrangements when you enquire. Specialist field activities require appropriate supervision and permissions.
CPTD endorsement and points are not yet confirmed. Read the CPTD information
